Refund Policy

This Refund Policy explains when you may be eligible for a refund for a digital vehicle report purchased on Auto.vin. It complements the Terms of Use. If there is any conflict regarding refunds, this Refund Policy applies.

1. Scope

This policy applies to one-time purchases of digital reports delivered immediately after payment as an online report with an optional PDF download.

Refunds are processed back to the original payment method (Stripe/PayPal) where possible.

2. Digital content and right of withdrawal (EU)

The product is digital content delivered immediately after payment. Where applicable, if you request immediate delivery, the statutory right of withdrawal may be limited once delivery begins.

Regardless of statutory rules, we offer a voluntary 7-day refund guarantee described below.

3. 7-day refund guarantee (voluntary)

You may request a refund within 7 days of purchase if one of the following applies:

  • Non-delivery: you did not receive access to the report after successful payment due to a technical issue.
  • Report cannot be generated for your VIN due to an error on our side (e.g., persistent technical failure).
  • Duplicate payment: you were charged more than once for the same order.
  • Material technical defect: the report is unreadable or the file/view is broken in a way that prevents normal use.

We may ask for your order ID, VIN, and a brief description (or screenshot) to diagnose the issue.

4. Exclusions (when refunds are not granted)

Refunds are typically not granted in the following cases:

  • You entered an incorrect VIN (typo or wrong vehicle) and the report was generated for the provided VIN.
  • Service history, mileage entries, or workshop remarks are not present in manufacturer/authorized systems for that VIN (this is normal data availability, not a defect).
  • You changed your mind after receiving access to the digital report, unless required by mandatory law.
  • Issues caused by your device, browser extensions, network, or inability to open PDF due to local settings (we will still try to help).

If your report contains only minimal/empty content due to a technical malfunction, contact us — we will verify and handle it under the guarantee.

5. How to request a refund

To request a refund, contact us and include:

  • Order ID (or payment reference).
  • VIN used for the purchase.
  • A short reason for the request.

Send your request to the contact email listed on the Contact page and in the Service provider section.

6. Processing time

We aim to review refund requests promptly. If approved, the refund is issued without undue delay.

The time for funds to appear in your account depends on your bank and the payment provider (Stripe/PayPal).

7. Chargebacks and disputes

If you have an issue, please contact us first so we can resolve it quickly.

Unnecessary chargebacks may delay resolution and may result in temporary restrictions for abuse prevention.
